BRIZMO GUIDE

Send RAW files to your computer, then into Lightroom Classic

Connect iPad to an SMB shared folder on your computer and let Brizmo deliver RAW files. Add Lightroom Classic Auto Import when you want incoming shots to appear in your catalog.

Camera → Brizmo / iPad → SMB receiving folder → Lightroom Classic

Before you start

The camera must connect to Brizmo, and iPad must also reach the receiving computer. A shared local network is recommended. If iPad uses the camera’s own Wi-Fi access point, check that the computer’s shared folder is still reachable.

Keep the computer awake and connected, with available storage and write access for your sharing account. During automatic transfer, keep Brizmo in the foreground, the iPad screen on and the camera connected.

1. Prepare a receiving folder

  1. Create a dedicated folder, such as Brizmo-Inbox. Keep it empty if you plan to configure Lightroom Classic Auto Import.
  2. On Mac, open System Settings → General → Sharing, enable File Sharing and turn on SMB in its options. Add the receiving folder to the shared folders and give your login account read/write access.
  3. Note the computer’s SMB address and the account you will use to sign in. On Windows, prepare a writable SMB share before continuing.

2. Connect from Files on iPad

  1. Open Files. In Browse, open the More menu and choose Connect to Server. Enter the computer’s SMB address, such as smb://your-computer-address.
  2. Sign in with an account that can access the share and open the receiving folder. Save a small test file and confirm it is readable on the computer, then remove that test file so the folder is empty again.

3. Choose the destination in Brizmo

  1. In Brizmo, tap the camera status in the top bar to open the camera panel, then open “Receive & auto-send”. On the “Auto-send” card, tap the folder button and select the computer’s receiving folder.
  2. Select RAW on the “Auto-send” card (to send RAW to the computer without keeping it on iPad, deselect RAW on the “Brizmo Session” card). Connect the camera, take one RAW test shot and check its filename, size and readability on the computer before continuing.
  3. Keep the folder’s name and location unchanged while shooting. If you rename or move it, select the destination again in Brizmo.

4. Set up Lightroom Classic Auto Import

Auto Import ignores subfolders: RAW files must arrive directly in the watched folder. Lightroom moves imported files to Destination, so check there when a file disappears from the receiving folder.

  1. Pause incoming transfers and save the test shot elsewhere so the receiving folder is empty.
  2. Open File → Auto Import → Auto Import Settings. Choose the receiving folder as Watched Folder and a separate Destination for imported photos.
  3. Select File → Auto Import → Enable Auto Import. Keep Lightroom Classic open and take a test shot. Confirm it appears in the catalog and opens for editing.

Confirm each stage

A sent status in Brizmo means the file was delivered to the chosen folder. It does not confirm that Lightroom imported it or cloud syncing finished. Check the received files, the Lightroom catalog and any required cloud copies separately.

You can include this transfer in your backup workflow. Keep your memory card and existing backups until the files are readable and delivery is confirmed. For Capture One, import the received RAW files using your usual workflow.

If something stops working

  1. Files cannot open the share: check that the computer is awake, the network is reachable and sharing is enabled, then reconnect to the server.
  2. The folder is visible but cannot be selected: check write access, or create another receiving folder and select it in Brizmo.
  3. RAW files arrived but Lightroom shows nothing: check that Auto Import is enabled, the watched location is correct, files are not in a subfolder and Lightroom supports your camera’s RAW format.
  4. The camera disconnected or an original is unavailable: restore the connection. A preview in a Session does not confirm RAW delivery.
